McD x Crocs

McDonald’s and Crocs have something special in common – fans across the world that proudly show off their brand love in wacky and elaborate ways. This collab with McDonald’s was the largest global partnership ever for Crocs, and needed to deliver back to loyal superfans all around the world.

We invited fans to step into a unique world where McDonald’s and Crocs fandoms come together: a surreal, fun, absurd place that draws from elements of both brands, and taps into the nostalgia of beloved McDonald’s characters Grimace, Hamburglar and Birdie.

Using McDonald’s crew from around the world as our models, our Crocs were shot on stunning sets that became signature visuals throughout the campaign.

At launch, we sent ridiculously giant Big Mac inspired boxes to media and influencers that opened up to reveal our Crocs within this colorful, surreal landscape.

And we invited fans to pick up their shoes at “Croc-Thrus” around the world, complete with menu boards, a pick-up window and visits from Grimace and friends.

The response was unprecedented and global: the Crocs shoes quickly appeared on resale marketplace StockX, which featured the Grimace shoe as trending on day one. Press ranged from the mainstream outlets like The Today Show to streetwear and fashion outlets all over the world – noting the collab as “genius” and “one of the most well-done collabs” as well as a NYT fashion article that cemented McDonald’s fully in the fashion universe.
